Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) Test in 11-by 11-Foot Wind Tunnel

Close shot of scale model of Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Calif., in early March 2006, where the model was tested in Ames' Unitary Wind Tunnel Complex. The model is painted with special, pressure-sensitive pink paint used in the testing. The CEV will be NASA's new spaceship that will fly astronauts to the International Space Station, the Moon and beyond.

This image (taken in late March 2006) show a three-percent scale model of the Space Shuttle, which has been undergoing wind tunnel tests at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Calif., in the Unitary Wind Tunnel Complex to provide data that will aid NASA in deciding if the protuberance air load (PAL) ramps will be removed from the external tank for the next shuttle launch, STS-121, now scheduled for July 2006.
